News and events – stay up to date

There are many interesting events going on and plenty of news that you should know about – we help you staying updated.

During the current Corona pandemic it is important to stick together in order to make the best out of the difficult situation.

We, the BID team Neuer Wall, try to see it as an opportunity. An opportunity to work even closer together and support and helpt eachother where we can.
We especially would like to use our social media channels to promote your online-shops and customer services now.

The Neuer Wall became on December 14th for the third time this year a car-free zone. Between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m., the middle section of the shopping street was transformed into a pedestrian-friendly walkway. During the Christmas hustle and bustle, the Neuer Wall invited to a relaxed stroll without crowds. Visitors had the opportunity to stroll between golden gift-sculptures, box trees decorated for Christmas and the traditional Christmas lights.

This year turning on of the Christmas lights on Neuer Wall will not only marks the beginning of the pre-Christmas season in 2019.  In November 2019, the BID Neuer Wall and the Comité Saint-Germain-des-Prés, 6th arr. Paris, started an international partnership. On November 25, at 6 pm, a plaque was inaugurated bearing a text to commemorate the cooperation . The buzzer to turn on the lights was then pressed together by the two institutions.

Also this year, the Business Improvement District Neuer Wall is looking forward to a contemplative Christmas season. On November 25 the tradition was continued: For the 14th time the Christmas lights were solemnly turned on by the BID. Around 900 tenants, residents and owners of the quarter came to the Bürgermeister-Petersen-Platz to celebrate the event with hot drinks and delicacies.

Shopping all weekend - on the 3rd of November, the last Sunday shopping of this year takes place. "With Art and Culture in the City" different events are planned in the city center and HafenCity. In the time from 1 to 6 pm you’re able to stroll through the shops and experience culture at the same time.
